Support ACA by joining our board

Serving on the Alzheimer’s of Central Alabama Board of Directors is a meaningful way to make a direct impact on families across our state.

We’re looking for committed, community‑minded leaders who want to advance ACA’s mission, strengthen our programs, and help guide the organization’s growth. Board members play an active role in events, fundraising, and advocacy throughout the year, and we welcome applicants who are ready to contribute their time, talents, and voice to this important work.

Our Board of Directors meet for eight regular board meetings per year, plus the annual meeting. The meetings are on the fourth Thursday of the month at noon, except for June, July, November, and December. Attendance at five meetings is required. Absences must be excused. Below are ACA’s expectations for board membership:

Board Standards:

  • Board members are asked to attend the Garden Art Party using corporate tickets or by purchasing 2 tickets. Board members who purchase 2 tickets receive 4 tickets.

  • Board members are asked to assist with the collection of auction items for the Garden Art Party and help with the logistics of the event.
  • Every board member is asked to assist with the logistics for Walking to Remember, the first Saturday in November.
  • Each board member must participant on a Team for the Walk, it could be for their work, family, friends or the board’s own team.
  • Every board member should attend and/or contribute to at least 3 additional events or programs during the year: Glow for a Cure Golf Tournament, annual conference, Walk and Garden Art Party Kick Off, help deliver Care Baskets, etc.
  • Every board member is encouraged to contribute a minimum of $250 to ACA’s annual campaign. Members are also encouraged to consider a planned gift to ACA’s endowment fund.
  • Every board member should be familiar with ACA’s goals and mission. Board membership means that you are an ambassador for the organization and promote our events and activities by all means available.
