One of the most important things a family member or other caregiver can do for themselves is attend a support group of people sharing their journey. A list of support groups in our area is printed below:
Jefferson/Shelby County meetings:
The Alzheimer’s of Central Alabama group meets the second and fourth Tuesday of each month, at Alzheimer’s of Central Alabama’s office, 300 Office Park Drive, Suite 225, 11:00am. Call Miller Piggott, 205-871-7970.

In Birmingham (Southside) the UAB Center for Aging Alzheimer Family Program facilitates meetings at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church the first Thursday of the month at 2:00pm. Call Betty Roberts, 205-934-2178.
In Birmingham a meeting is held on the second Tuesday of the month from 10:30 until noon at the Hospice Services of Alabama office located at 1000 Southlake Park, Suite 100. For information call 205-682-9996.

At Brookwood Baptist Medical Center, a meeting is held on the second Thursday of the month in the Geri Conference Room (ground floor) at 2010 Brookwood Medical Center Drive, Birmingham, 35209. 1:45 – 2:45 pm. At Princeton Baptist Medical Center, a meeting is held on the third Tuesday of each month in the Senior Care Unit located at 701 Princeton Avenue, SW, Birmingham, Alabama 35211. 12:45 – 1:45 pm.
