Jarman Fearing Lowder dreamed of making wine with her husband, Thomas, at Holman Ranch, an idyllic piece of property in Carmel Valley, Ca. After her death from a long battle with early onset Alzheimer’s, her family honored her with the creation of two premium varietals: Jarman Chardonnay and Jarman Pinot Noir. Her husband, Thomas, and his family are committed to finding a cure for Alzheimer’s disease and donate a percentage of sales of Jarman wine to the Alzheimer’s Drug Discovery Foundation.
The Lowder Family is generously contributing 4 cases of Jarman wine for ACA’s Jr. Board event, Toasting Research: An Educational Happy Hour. This virtual event offers a rare opportunity to enjoy the celebrated Jarman wine while supporting local Alzheimer’s research.
The Jarman label reflects quality, with only the best local grapes used during an artisanal, small-batch winemaking process. Aged in French oak barrels, Jarman’s vintages are held in limited supply, and are not normally available anywhere outside the tasting room at Holman Ranch.
The Jr. Board, established in 2015, has attracted a dynamic group of young people who are ambitiously raising money with the goal of recruiting the brightest, most promising students to establish careers in Alzheimer’s research. The Board has made a 3 year, $100,000 commitment (from 2019 to 2021) to UAB’s Department of Neurology to establish the ACA Pre-Doctoral Scholars Program in Alzheimer’s Research.
